Activate the new IE7 Green Address Bar
Microsoft's Internet Explorer 7 is the first browser to support Extended Validation (EV) SSL and the new enhanced user interface to display the EV SSL differences over standard SSL. By turning the address bar green and showing the visitor your company name and the identity of the trusted Issuing Authority, your SSL Certificate provides a higher level of trust and assurance than just the standard non-EV padlock.

Strong Step-Up Encryption Included in Standard Price
Extended ServerSign is the only EV certificate that incorporates SGC technology at no additional cost. This "enhances" SSL technology to deliver strong (128-bit) encryption during an internet browsing session between the web server and the older legacy Microsoft browsers (version 4.723612.1713 and above), without SGC these older browsers are forced to connect using weak 40 bit encryption.

Secure your www. and non-www. sites with one easy Certificate install
SSL Certificates are usually issued to Fully Qualified Domain Names (FQDN) and can only be used on that FQDN, so normally customers wanting to secure, for example, both https://www.globalsign.com and https://globalsign.com would need two separate certificates. But not with GlobalSign SSL – the only professional level SSL to allow the use of both www.domain.com and just domain.com in a single certificate without any additional charges, IP purchase or server configuration.

Why the need for a new Extended Validation standard?

The last few years have seen an unprecedented increase in fraudulent web sites and phishing attacks. In 2005 the leading Certification Authorities and Browser vendors came together and formed the CAB Forum - a membership body designed to standardise issuance procedures of future SSL Certificates.

By the end of 2006 and start of 2007 the browser vendor forum member will release enhanced versions of their browsers capable of identifying which SSL Certificates are the new "Extended Validation" (EV) certificates. These next generation browsers activate the new green user interface to show web site visitors when they encounter an Extended Validation certificate, resulting in added trust and peace of mind the web site they are dealing with is authentic and legitimate.

EV SSL Browser
The new IE 7 on Vista interface - supporting EV SSL
The EV certificate activates the new green interface and the padlock area now alternates between your company name and country and the Issuing Authority - namely the credible and long time established GlobalSign

As a WebTrust compliant CA since 2002 (one of the longest in the world), the GlobalSign infrastructure is ready and in place to support fast turnaround on the new standardized vetting processes necessary to issue an EV certificate.
